Accommodation Plans
We take accommodation plans seriously and aim to provide holistic support for every student. We handle all submitted plans and documents as part of a student’s education record under FERPA, with student privacy and parental access rights as a top priority.
UC Scout implements appropriate accommodations for On Demand students provided in the form of an Individualized Education Program (IEP), an Individualized Service Plan (ISP), a 504 Plan, or a College Board® Eligibility Letter if we are informed of the student’s needs and accommodations before the student begins coursework. We must be notified early in the course enrollment process to implement approved accommodations.
Let us know how to support your learning
We cannot accommodate what we do not know about or retroactively implement accommodation plans for completed coursework, so please reach out as soon as possible if you need this support in addition to access to your UC Scout On Demand course.
Students enrolled in a course through our Basic or Plus plans must work with their school or facilitating teacher regarding accommodations.
Step 1
You should gather the required documents and share the IEP, ISP, or 504 Plan accommodation information using the UC Scout Accommodations Request Form. Please do not submit private or sensitive medical documentation through the form.
All submitted documentation must be signed by the student’s parent(s) or legal guardian(s) and a representative from the student’s “home” school, like a counselor.
Submit Accommodations Request Form
Note: UC Scout is unable to create accommodation plans or supplementary documentation, so if you do not have accommodations documentation we encourage you to work with your school to see if this is an option.
Step 2
Once you submit the form, our team will carefully review the plan and all accompanying documentation. We check that the form is complete, all documentation has been attached with signatures, and evaluate our ability to meet the accommodation request.
After submitting your Accommodations Request Form
A UC Scout accommodation support specialist will follow up with you and provide a list of reasonable accommodations and additional support UC Scout can provide in your online On Demand course. If an accommodation request cannot be fulfilled due to the asynchronous and online nature of the course structure, we will notify the student and their family via email.
These plans are confidential and only your teacher and supporting administrative staff will have access to information about your individual approved accommodations.
Note: Students are responsible for submitting the Accommodations Request Form for each new term for which they would like their approved accommodations implemented. Accommodations will not be automatically transferred to each new term.
If you have any questions about this process or would like to discuss the implementation of an approved accommodation, please get in touch with us at ucscoutaccommodations@ucsc.edu
