From California, For Everyone

Why UC Scout

Our nonprofit program was created 25 years ago to empower students and teachers by providing high-quality, tech-fueled learning materials to anyone who needs them – in California and beyond.

Flexible Online Learning

UC Scout courses inspire lifelong curiosity and prepare students of all backgrounds for a tech–driven world where learning and job skills are flexible and self-directed.

With UC Scout, students can enjoy the flexibility of learning anytime, anywhere with the help of credentialed teachers for support. Teachers have access to A-G approved and AP® coursework to supplement their classroom curriculum.

And it’s all provided by the University of California, which is widely considered the best public university system in the United States.

Improving A-G Completion Rates

Mission Possible

This might surprise you. Did you know that fewer than half of high school graduates in California are completing the 15 courses required for admission to University of California and California State University systems – known as A-G courses – and that the completion rate is even lower for underrepresented, lower-income, and rural students?

That’s where UC Scout comes in. We’re here to help address this equity gap and help all students get on track to prepare for college or a rewarding career. We provide online courses that enable students complete the A-G requirements, and we lend a hand to schools that don’t yet have a complete set of A-G courses.

"In recent years, fewer than 2 out of 10 public school students in some regions of California graduate having met A-G subject course requirements. This limitation has restricted access to affordable four-year public universities for many California students."
